Camas & Kidney Lake
This lightly trafficked 6 mile out and back trail is a great way to get stunning views and see the mountain lakes. The trail is easy to moderate. The first mile of the hike is up an old logging road.
The road dead ends and the trail veers left and up a treed ridge. You’ll cross multiple small creeks and switch back your way up the mountain on a sometimes rocky trail. The last half mile or so gets a little steeper but as you finish at the lake the work to get there was worth it. This is a great day hike or overnight camping trip. The trailhead is just south of Hamilton and even the drive out is beautiful.
From Darby travel 7 miles north on Highway 93. Turn west (left) on Lost Horse Road/FS 429 and travel 2.1 miles. Turn north (right) onto FS 496 and follow approximately 5.8 miles to Camas Creek Trailhead
